USB Port Tweaker
----------------

Enforces certain polling frequency for all low-speed USB devices.

Download
- Binary & source code: http://home.arcor.de/_aero/projects/usbtwkr/ usbtwkr_*.zip

Installation Instructions
- Extract "usbtwkr.exe" to some directory
- Execute "usbtwkr.exe" and choose desired polling frequency
- Press CTRL + C to exit

Additional Information
This tool is for those, who - for some reason(s) - do not want to or cannot use SweetLow's HIDUSBF.
I recommend HIDUSBF: http://sweetlow.at.tut.by/download/hidusbf.zip

Notes
- Should work with Windows XP and anything above (x86_64 builds included)
- Is not compatible with other "usbport.sys" patchers (due to different patching method)
- Do not use it with "usbport.sys" variants generated by other tools
- Automatically bypasses "Windows File Protection" (you won't even see the warning dialog anymore)
- On-the-fly adaption might not work for all computers (Windows restart is mandatory, then)

I'm running Windows XP Professional x64 & when I run USB Port Tweaker I get "ERROR: SfcFileException" in red letters as soon as I select one of the options (1 to Cool. Accelfix runs perfectly.

Any ideas? Which files do you need the details of?

Thanks

Maybe this version will help: http://home.arcor.de/_aer...twkr/usbtwkr_20060625.zip

SFC_OS.DLL:SfcFileException is an undocumented function to exclude a given file (ie. "usbport.sys") from WFP's list of protected files for one minute.
Consequently, it is necessary (but not mandatory) for "USB Port Tweaker".
Unfortunately, "unofficial" API functions may be changed in newer or future versions without notice.
Windows Vista Beta 2, for example, doesn't have it anymore (in some circumstances, it can be considered a security risk).

This version does not check wether "SfcFileException" has succeeded or not.
Thus, "USB Port Tweaker" may now report a status of success when it actually failed.
Please keep this in mind.

If it does not work, try Safe Mode.
If it still doesn't, send me your "usbport.sys" file and I will patch it for you or just use HIDUSBF (the best solution, in my opinion).

Hi,

There is no file available on that directory.
Instead I've downloaded the file usbtwkr_20060625.zip from
http://home.arcor.de/_aero/projects/usbtwkr/old

The problem I have is that I've checked the file with http://virusscan.jotti.org/
and it appears it contains a problem :
ArcaVir  Found Heur.Win32
Fortinet  Found W32/PE_Patch.Z
Norman Virus Control  Found W32/Suspicious_U.gen
VirusBuster  Found novirus:Packed/Upack

Do you have any info on that ? Is there a more recent file available ?
USB Port Tweaker has desactivated my mouse so it's not an option for now.

Don't worry about the 'virus' warning. The program acts a bit suspicious because it patches important windows files.

I'm not trying to dissuade you, but what would you need it for? Most gaming mice these days let you control the polling rate via the drivers and I doubt other USB devices would really benefit from tweaking the polling rate.

I have a mx518 + Vista 64 - there's no function to change the polling rate in my Driver(I've tried new ones, old ones..). I tried lots of Progs for changing the polling rate, none of them worked. Hidfusb doesn't work either, not even when testmode's on. So the only prog left wich could be working for me is this one. I've browsed alot of forums on this topic and lots of ppl said this little prog would most likely work BUT every link to it is down.

The only thing wich works for me right now is installing XP wich sucks cause everytime i wanna play a shooter game i have to reboot, it takes space, i can't use all of my ram cause it's only a 32bit version and it doesnt have directX 10.

So this usb tweaker could save me alot of time and make my PC more enjoyable.

Hmm. I was going to say "have you tried the USB tweaker we have in our download section?" but then I realized it is for XP and not Vista so NO GUARANTEES IT WILL WORK!

Work. With disabled driver signing it must work. The only other thing, why it can not working - you don't read readme carefully. With disabled driver signing vista 64 like win xp x64.
>Vista 64
Since now i have Vista 64 RTM - i test it and (more) make setup compatible with x64 OS.

Dang I hate to signup and then post a request, but here goes anyways.  I've been trolling through here for awhile and have used the wonderful usb polling tweaker with great results on Vista 32bit.  I've have since gotten my hands on the 64bit version and now using that.  I was wondering if anyone has used this program with Vista 64bit or if not what is the status of the project thus far.  I can't wait to test it out.  Anyways, if you need some help testing, my computer is your computer.  Just let me know.  Thanks. the Dillweed
