Got my Habu sample today, and after trying to install it I thought that a comprehensive FAQ would be nice so people with problems have a single place to look for: I'll start, please add your comments and FAQs I'll add them to my post later on. (so the FAQ will stay small and clear)

Q1) How to install the Habu correctly? The manual says "plug in the mouse first" and a sticker on the usb plug says "drivers first"...

A1a) Manual is right, first plugin the mouse, then install the drivers.

A1b) Steps to install the MS Habu Mouse: (kudos to Protocal)  (Assuming you have no software installed)

1) Plug mouse in. (If new hardware wizard comes up, 'cancel' the install)
2) Load new driver software from Razer website (2.01), rebooted when asked.
3) Inserted Install CD that came with the mouse (1.0), it uninstalls the new drivers (note that when I inserted the CD is autoran the installer/uninstaller, if you don't have autoplay enabled then manually run the setup.exe from the CD), and then reboot when asked.
4) Install the drivers that came with the CD (1.0), reboot when asked.
5) Mouse should now detect, and the Razer icon should be on your taskbar.  Confirm by checking your device manager, and under Human Interface Devices you should now see Habu Mouse listed.
6) Flash the firmware on your mouse with the new one you downloaded (2.01), in theory it should work, and will ask you to unplug and then plug your mouse back in.
7) Run setup.exe from the new 2.01 driver set, which will uninstall the CD version of drivers (Click 'yes' to install the unsigned drivers when asked), reboot when asked.
8 ) Run setup.exe from the new 2.01 driver set, reboot when asked.

**********
Notes:
- Once your install is complete, remove the CD from the drive and DO NOT insert it again if you have the autoplay feature enabled on your optical drives.  It will automatically uninstall your new drivers, and then you'll have to reboot, and reinstall the new ones all over again.  To be safe, don't leave it in your drive at all
- Remeber to use the same USB jack EVERY TIME you plug your mouse in.

Q2) After installing the new fimware (V2), I can't change the polling rate (stuck at 125Hz).

A2) There's a bug in this new firmware. Razer has released a new firmware (2.01) to fix this issue. Download the new firmware and update. But you could also use the CP drivers and firmware:

1. Uninstall the Habu software
2. Install the Copperhead software (the mouse will not be detected)
3. Download latest firmware for Copperhead
4. Flash it, like you would do with a copperhead (unplug, press and hold profile switch button replug), just follow the instructions
5. Replugg the mouse and you will have a copperhead with a Habu shell!

Q3) When I installed the Habu software drivers (with the mouse plugged in) I wasn't prompted about any unsigned driver being installed, I was just told to reboot after the drivers had been installed in C:\Program Files\Razer\Habu. After reboot nothing had changed - the mouse worked, but "Razer Habu" in Control Panel said "No Mouse Detected" and the firmware "Update.exe" didn't work.

A3) Try this fix:
1) Open Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager
2) Under "Human Interface Devices" if the mouse is not installed properly you will probably see two entries saying "USB Human Interface Device"...
3) If you right-click on one of these and look at Properties it should say next to location "Location 0 (Habu Mouse)" (the 0 might be a different number)
4) While still in Properties click on the Driver tab, then "Update Driver"
5) Check "No, not this time" on first screen asking about using Windows Update, then click "Next"
6) Check "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)", then Next
7) Check "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install", then Next
You should see two available compatible devices - "USB Human Interface Device" and "Habu Mouse" (If "Habu Mouse" does not appear click on "Have Disk" and navigate to C:\Program Files\Razer\Habu\Driver and select habu.inf)
9) Select "Habu Mouse" and the drivers should then update properly
10) Reboot, and Razer Habu config and the firmware updater should now work

Q4) The above didn't work! There is onyl one hid-conform device and it does not accept the habu.inf.

Q4) As far as we know there are certain Habus (especially in Germany) that have only a basic firmware installed. You need to flash a new firmware:

1. Uninstall the Habu software
2. Install the Copperhead software (the mouse will not be detected)
3. Download latest firmware for the Habu
4. Flash it with the Habu firmware, like you would do with a copperhead (unplug, press and hold profile switch button replug), just follow the instructions
5. Replug the mouse and the Habu should now be recognized properly.

Q5) I can't update the firmware, software get's stuck in between

A5) Sounds like you did not install the Freescale driver. When the mouse enters ICP mode it essentially another USB device that requires another driver. The Habu requires a hybrid install slightly different than the Copperhead.

1. This step is only needed if you've never updated the mouse or possibly if you switch USB
ports. You will want to have another mouse on hand at this time to simplify things as the mouse
will not function in this step.

Uninstall previous mouse drivers if installed and reboot.

Unplug the mouse. Hold the profile button located on the bottom of the mouse. While still
holding the profile button plug the mouse back in the USB port. The computer should now
recognize the mouse as a Freescale USB ICP device.

At this point the computer will ask you for the driver. Click on “Install from a list or specific location
   (Advanced)” and click “Next>”.

At the next screen tick the box next to this line: “Include this location in the search:”.Browse to
   the firmware folder and click“Next>”.

Next you will get the unsigned driver warning, click "Continue anyway" and then "Finish."

Unplug the mouse and then plug it back in.

2. Located in the "Firmware" folder is a file called "Update.exe", double click it to start the firmware
    update process.

3. After firmware update is successful unplug the mouse and plug it back in.

4. Install mouse drivers and software located in the "Software" using "setup.exe."

5. Reboot and you should be good to go.

Q6) I can't change the response time!
A6) The Habu needs to be reconnected (unplug and replug) to change the response time. A fix to cure this is underway...

Q7) When opening the Habu config program the firmware is some odd number like 6.3264. The  config program is unresponsive. So what to do?

A7) What has happened is that you've loaded the habu drivers on the wrong device.  Perhaps the keyboard.  Once you find the correct HID drivers (try unistalling them and see what stops working or Habu Mouse will be in the list of compatible devices) update to the habu drivers then uninstall the habu config software, reboot, reinstall, reboot and it should be all good.  Kudos go to junktzu

Q8) How do I install the  and make a firmware upgrade Habu on Windows Vista?

So far there is now known way to do the update in Vista, since there are some problems to get Vista to accept the Freescale driver. Therefore it's easier to update the firmware in Windows XP initially. Afterwards the mouse works with the new 2.0.1 drivers in Vista.

Copperhead drivers.
Habu drivers and firmware.
You might also need the Copperhead Freescale Driver. Kudos to Jørgen and Maganda)

Q9) Does the Habu work under MaxOSX ?
A9) The Habu mouse also works really nice in MacOSX with Steermouse. It can of course be no surprise, since the Habu and Copperhead are almost identical. The ability to change resolution works under MacOSX as well (DPI UP/ DPI DOWN) if it's first setup with the Windows utility. And the mouse remembers this setting, even after shut down/ reboot and disconnection, since the profile information is stored in the Habu firmware. Kudos to Jørgen and Maganda)

I went on holiday and forgot to take the original installation-cd with me, so I had no luck with any of the above solutions to get the mouse installed in Windows Vista.

I first used Maganda's solution below, to get the rodent updated on a Windows XP computer. I had some problems to get Vista to accept the Freescale driver, and that was my reason for updating the firmware in Windows XP initially. Afterwards the mouse works with the new 2.0.1 drivers in Vista. I've not tried the Copperhead driver in Vista.

EDIT: Fix is to (from a point of no drivers installed) install Copperhead drivers, reboot, unzip Copperhead Freescale Drivers (obtained seperately on Razer website), remove mouse, replug holding down Profile button, assign Copperhead Freescale drivers, update to 2.1 firmware = succesful! Then uninstall Copperhead drivers, reboot, install 2.1 Habu drivers, and you are away! Smiley

The Habu mouse also works really nice in MacOSX with Steermouse. It can of course be no surprise, since the Habu and Copperhead are almost identical. The ability to change resolution works under MacOSX as well (DPI UP/ DPI DOWN) if it's first setup with the Windows utility. And the mouse remembers this setting, even after shut down/ reboot and disconnection, so I guess it is saved in the Habu firmware.
