Title: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: qrtz on February 02, 2007, 08:59:35 am I just installed Vista the other day. After messing around with a bit and looking in the registry, it appears to use the same mouse settings as XP. So I applied the registry accel fix that was used in XP. However, I still have acceleration in all games. I tried two different mice with and without drivers and the acceleration was still present. Does anyone know how to solve this or when a possible solution is coming out?
Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: qrtz on February 02, 2007, 11:43:18 am Edit: link removed
Thanks man, I really appreciate it. Are you planning on publicly releasing a new version of the accel fix for Vista? Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: qrtz on February 02, 2007, 08:43:11 pm I get access denied even when I'm in Safe Mode as Admininstrator. :(
Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: qrtz on February 02, 2007, 10:34:55 pm Yeah, I can't even rename the file because Vista is saying access denied. It's not like XP where you can simply go into Safe Mode and change the files however you want. Even if you have Administrator access in Vista you are still locked out of doing certain things I guess. I'm sure there's a way to get around it, I have been looking for a solution but no luck so far.
Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: h3llfire on February 02, 2007, 11:28:48 pm You could try to do this with a bootable linux live distro that has ntfs write support.. I'm curious if after you replace win32k.sys, Vista will complain about changing the file...
Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: qrtz on February 03, 2007, 10:09:25 am I followed those instructions and it seems to have successfully disabled accel. Thank you sir :)
Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: qrtz on February 06, 2007, 12:24:22 am After trying out the patched win32k.sys, I have to say that there is still something wrong. I don't know if it's accel but the mouse feeling is really weird. It feels nothing like XP or any other version of Windows. I tested this in ET btw. Aiming is very difficult, it feels uncontrollable and slippery. Like I said I don't know if this is accel or something else.
Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: qrtz on February 06, 2007, 10:32:14 am I solved the weird mouse feeling. Turns out it was actually something in my config. The patched win32k.sys is working perfectly.
Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: nonamedash on February 06, 2007, 02:07:00 pm I have been searching all day for a fix like this! I am having the exact same problem with my mouse in Vista Home Premium.
anir: would that file you patched for qrtz work for me, or would my win32k.sys need to be patched manually too? I desperately need to fix this problem, it's driving me insane qrtz: out of curiority, what was the extra thing in your ET config that was causing problems after you replaced the win32k.sys file? I ask because ET is my main game :) Next on my agenda after this is to get my usb sample rate up to 500hz, after that I'll have a perfect Vista gaming setup. I can't believe MS didn't fix this problem already. Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: nonamedash on February 06, 2007, 11:23:02 pm I'm not sure if I have the version in question, so I figured I'd just upload them both just in case.

Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: monte on February 11, 2007, 05:20:35 am Hi, I am also desperately looking for a solution to get rid of vista accel and to get 500Hz usb rate. Could you be so kind and patch the files for vista 64bit anir ?? Would be great !"!!
Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: slapnuts on February 14, 2007, 01:58:22 am Using the mouse rate checker on my vista system I am averaging around 600-750Hz with my G5.
Would I really need the usb polling rate fixed? Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: insight on February 16, 2007, 03:45:03 pm i changed my win32k.sys but when i restart, windows refuses to load. it restart's over and over again.
I have a spanish vista RTM, so i guess that i need a spanish version of the file. Anir, can you modify it for me? thank you, very much appreciated ;) Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: endo on February 19, 2007, 12:04:57 pm You have given me some confidence anir! this is good news about being to patch for polling rate and acceleration in Vista, it was worrying me that the transition from XP to Vista was going to destroy the way I have my Razer DB set up, is there a standard RTM build number so people can get a general use polling rate usb file or will it vary from user to user ?
Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: endo on February 19, 2007, 10:59:02 pm Thanks for your reply, are you able to patch a Vista User'a usbport.sys file for 1000htz ?
Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: insight on February 20, 2007, 04:21:25 pm so Anir what can i do?, can you patch my version of win32k.sys? i tried but i don't know how to do it. i also got another different copy of spanish vista rtm but the version of the win32k.sys included is the same that i have now.
Regards Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: scidhuv on March 12, 2007, 10:30:57 pm Hi,
I am running Vista Business x64 edition, and tried installing the two files win32k.sys and usbport.sys, to their respective directories. My computer kept restarting, when it tried to start, the lights on my usb keyboard were flickering like crazy, etc The problem with the spanish guy sounds like the same problem I am getting My original file version was 6.6000.16386, so was the one I downloaded. It is the English (United States) file and it matches the details of your file: creation date, size, etc (although obviously not modified date) Could it have been patched incorrectly? The problems I got started before the Windows GUI had appeared Thanks Ryan Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: scidhuv on March 14, 2007, 02:55:53 pm Hi,
I followed your instructions, however the computer still restarted anyway. The vista loading screen finishes, the screen tries to change resolution, then you see the flash of a blue screen and it restarts This was with only the modified win32k.sys file I'm now trying integrity checks, if I havn't posted within 10 minutes, assume they don't work either Cheers Ryan Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: scidhuv on March 14, 2007, 03:09:55 pm Hi,
Thats working now :-D I cant believe integrity checks would do all that :-o I'll test the usb ones now too Thanks again Ryan Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: tempo on March 15, 2007, 08:07:03 pm anir the link fo rthe 1000hz patch doesnt work. can u please fix or host it somewhere else??

Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: Outsiders71 on March 17, 2007, 07:07:29 pm Excuse my ignorance...
I'm running Vista Ultimate x86 and ran into the restarting problem. I didn't disable file integrity checks. I have a couple questions: 1) What is the location of win32k.sys? When I do a search on my computer I have two, one in c:\windows and one in c:\windows\system32. 2) I take it I can't enable integrity checks even after I get win32k.sys to work? Thanks. Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: ORange on March 17, 2007, 10:47:03 pm Hey anir...

Anyway I followed the instructions completely on this thread, I disabled integrity checks and automatic restart along with booting in safe mode etc etc.. anyway after i switch out the win32.sys files I restart my computer and a bsod appears that reads
"STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} The intial session process or system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000000 (0x0000130 0x00100418). The system has been shut down." I've tried it about 3 different times all step by step and i keep getting this error. In order to fix it i basically have to reinsert my vistas cd and repair my vistas installation. Please help me i can't stand this mouse accel cs 1.6 just pisses me off with it. Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: wiFFy on June 29, 2007, 09:43:24 pm Thank you so much:) I tried running HIDUSBF in Vista x64, but couldn't make it change polling rate anywhere from 125Hz:/
Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: Pioneer on June 30, 2007, 03:27:52 pm Hmm .. When i replace win32k.sys i get BSOD ..
My file version is .16438 but product version is .16386 in swedish. I replaced it with win32k_x86-64_60600016438gdr_EN.7z. Can't get usbport.sys to work either. My version of usbport.sys is .16386 and i replaced it with usbport.sys, x86-64, 6.0.6000.16386, 500 Hz. Integrity check is disable with bcdedit. I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 English with Swedish MUI. Any ideas ? Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: Pioneer on June 30, 2007, 05:23:18 pm Didn't write down the crash adress but it was similar to Rellimasta's ..
"STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} The intial session process or system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000000 (0x0000130 0x00100418). The system has been shut down." You can't even start bcdedit with user rights so i don't think that's the problem. When i type bcdedit the entry DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS is listed in loadoptions .. One strange thing is that in %systemroot%win32k.sys properties it says FileVersion .16438 and ProductVersion .16386 and language Swedish. But if i copy the same file to another location the properties says FileVersion .16438 ProductVersion .16438 language English .. Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: aandw on July 28, 2007, 01:51:28 am Hi Aion,
I was noticing that even though I have win32k file version 60600016438 (product version 60600016348) for windows 32bit, the file that you have fixed for it is very small compared to it. The original is 1.93 mb while the fixed is 880kb or so. I wonder if I may have an entirely different version than the one you have given me. I have already tried the first fix you posted by qrtzy, which had some horrible results ( and its size was also very small). Thanks! here's my file http://www.filefactory.com/file/4df277/ Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: skate2 on July 29, 2007, 08:54:13 am Hi aion,
I'm also having the same problem after restarting my computer, a blue screen pops out which requires me to restart the computer and restore to a point that the computer worked properly. I've done the steps that were shown by your screen shots in the first page of this thread. I was able to rename the win32.sys file to win32.bak. Then restarted my computer up until the part where the blue screen appears. I'm running on Windows Vista Home Premium. The 32 bit version. I've downloaded one of the patches you posted and tried again. I wasn't so sure what to do with the patch so what I did was i booted in safe mode, did all the security settings so that I was able to rename the win32.sys file. Then i replaced the win32.sys file with the patch that i downloaded(renamed the patch to win32.sys) and after replacing the old one with the patch i renamed it to win32.bak. Again after I restarted it displayed a blue screen. The patch that I downloaded was this from reply #49: win32k_x86-32_60600016438gdr_EN.7z (878.43 KB - downloaded 38 times.) I don't know if this helps but, the original win32.sys that I have is 1.93MB. Hope you can help me remove the mouse acceleration that's bothering me while playing games. Thanks in advance. Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: skate2 on July 29, 2007, 03:45:12 pm Hi aion,
Sorry for asking the same question again, it is my fault that I didn't read the previous post. But anyway here's the error that came out with a blue screen after restarting. I was able to extract the patch, however the patch was exactly the same as to what I had so it didn't help after all. I copied this down on a piece of paper and typed it in here. So here's the error message: -------- STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} The initial session process or system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000000 (0x00000034 0x00100518) The system has been shutdown -------- Again, I'm running on Vista Home Premium(32bit version) maybe I have the wrong win32.sys file. Hope this helps. Thanks a lot! :) Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: fusion on July 30, 2007, 10:00:46 pm Hello aion,

I have already patched your win32k.sys: win32k_x86-32_60600016438gdr_EN.7z (http://razerblueprints.net/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=99&topic=5882.msg55610#msg55610) Your usbport.sys, however, is new. Please consider using HIDUSBF (http://razerblueprints.net/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=99&topic=6297.msg55371#msg55371). Thanks man :D :D I used deadlock.reg to check the accel. No frozen mouse so i guess the fix works. deadlock.reg is for Vista32 right?? Then I used HIDUSBF for the mouse rate adjustment. I guess it works, is there any program I can use to see my current mouse rate?? :-? Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: lej1 on August 03, 2007, 08:40:35 am Hello Fusion
you can google a software called mouserate.exe It will tell you the polling rate ;) Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: Rellimasta on August 14, 2007, 08:49:21 pm Hello, Today i installed windows updates and got owned by it. Blue screen of death appeared and i had to repair my computer. Anyway I'm not 100% sure but, I think it's because of the modified win32.sys file that I put in so that mouse accell would be off. can anyone confirm this? and if so what should I do? This is the security update i believe caused vista to blow up on me.

Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: remmmz on October 07, 2007, 08:04:32 pm hi aion, my knowledge of computers is very limited compared you the guys on this forum, i get how to disable windows file protection and everything, but i don't know what to do with the file i downloaded. i try to open the file i downloaded (the one for vista 32-bit mouse accel) and it says cannot open file. do i rename it to system32.bak and then rename it when i put it in the folder?? also, can the usb polling rate thingy that is limiting the hz have an affect on my Plantronics dsp-500 headsets? (since they are usb headsets)
Sorry to be such a dunce when it comes to this, any help is appreciated. Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: demm1 on October 15, 2007, 06:19:36 am hallo aion, can you patch my win32k.sys and usbport.sys ?

I've been wanting to try this on my vista 32 machine. Title: Re: Vista built-in acceleration Post by: jukkis83 on November 06, 2007, 03:48:17 pm So currently if you use (KB938979) or (KB932596) updates on Vista you cant fix the mouse accel and usbport.sys being 125hz limited? Im currently running 64bit vista and my mouse is very laggy, especially when vsync is enabled. No mouse issue with XP. My rat is MX518.
Christ :/ I couldn't care less about the kernel protection patch but (KB938979) actually has some handy improvements. Any way around this issue as of yet? Also does the vista accel fix work with conjunction of Logitech Setpoint 4.0 or is it meant solely for non-driver mouse setup? Thanks if advance.
