I know about it but there has been zero news about it other than the initial announcement. You can find more info about it at the links below but I don't think anyone is expecting it to be released for a long time yet.

L4D is a masterpiece if you can learn to love the Vs. mode.  It definitely lacks if all you do is single player or campaign, although since the authoring tools have finally been made available not too long ago, we're starting to see a lot more community made maps and campaigns, so its getting better in that regard.  Either way you definitely need enough friends with the game that you can play with a couple others (preferably enough to field a team of 4 whenever you want to play).
