I used a black SteelSeries Experience I-1 as it was cheaper, and I prefer smaller pads.

I didn't get any tracking errors at all.
Other people were using Icemat 2nd Edition, and I think the white one.
They were experiencing tracking problems.

So I'd suggest a black one, I-1 or I-2, whatever, according to the size of the pad you want.

The I-1 is the size of a QCK Mini, or Steelpad 3S and the I-2 is closer to the size of the Steelpad 4D

The wear off of the Steelpad 4D doesn't seem to be bad, I've had mine for over a year, and it's suffered abuse at my Wife's art college and stuff...and it seems to be just as rough as when I bought.

It still tracks great, and lift off is still 1.2mm

The SteelSeries Experience pad will also lower the liftoff distance on most laser mice.
The Habu's lift off on the pad is 2.4mm, which is about as low as I've heard 2nd gen laser get.

3rd gen laser like Ikari Laser has pretty low lift off.
In fact the Ikari Laser has gotten past all the problems of laser mice, and that's a pretty cool accomplishment.
However it's sixth button is non programmable...so it's really just a five button mouse.

The Laser3G sensor that Lachesis uses also has a pretty low lift off distance.
But everyone knows the Lachesis has tons of tracking problems...so that's not a good example of progress IMHO.

I'd say that mouse companies need to aim for 1.2mm lift off distance on cloth pads, no matter what.
That'd be an accomplishment worth hyping.

Sorry, I do not have the Goliathus.  However, I have just added an interesting edit to my post above - for the Boomslang Collectors Edition which has the same sensor as the Death Adder:

Yeah, I got a Goliathus Control, and the liftoff with a Deathadder is... too high: approximately 5mm, or 4 cd's.

With the eXactmat (which isn't in the list either), the lift-off is perfect on both sides, not noticable at all, so I'd call it about 1 mm or one 1 cd.

I haven't posted in here, yet??

Get a QPAD|CT for lowest lift off distance. I won't draw any pictures or give you any readings, but the lift-off distance is paper thin (an exaggeration but trust me QPAD|CT is awesome).

OK I just tested it out, and the liftoff is below a single CD. Buy it! Not only is there "low liftoff distance" but the pad is sooo smooth and buttery, my mouse is like an oiled up midget in an ice-skating rink.

has anyone tried the SteelSeries QCK WoW Wrath of the Lich King Edition with a Deathadder?

I'm curious about the lift-off distance, so if anyone has the pad (or the normal QCK version) and a deathadder, please confirm that it's about 2.4 mm, as posted in the opening post.

hmm, sensors differ within the same mouse.

cos on my boomslang CE on goliathus speed, i get 3.6mm lift-off.

doesnt bother me tho, as i hardly lift the mouse off in-game.
