Can someone test if the Habu does this?

And did you make sure to check and make sure "enhance pointer precission" was unchecked??

That's very important.

any razer mouse has this i'd say... this is built in the firmware and has nothing to do with things lik enhance pointer precision :z.

the Habu does it, but to much less of an extent than my DA. Enhance pointer precision is off on both. I like the tracking much more than my Habu because of the centered semsor, so don't tell me to switch back. It's unacceptable for my mouse to be hindering my aim like it is, I shouldn't have to switch to get something that's expected from a mouse.

edit: got a friend to test with the 3G Diamondback, and it exhibits the same problem. Seems like a 3G sensor issue.

I noticed weird tracking errors like this in my DA tests, but never noticed them with the DB3G or the Habu TBH.

I'd say the IME 3.0 is still the best way to go if you're a low sense player.
High sense players aren't having a very good season...

My friend never noticed either, because we mostly play games where the targets are bigger than a scouts head in TF2 Tongue but with me as a mid-high senser, I'm sorta screwed, which is why I'd like something to be done about this. I like the feel of the Habu and DA shape wise, but the Habu tracking is odd because of the off center laser, and it tracks poorly on all my pads after they got broken in, and the DA has this issue Sad

I use my Habu on a Steelpad 3S, and 4D

3S is a metal pad, so it won't really get broken in.
The SteelSeries SX was notably bad for my mice, so I don't think that's a good way to go.

The tracking is better on the 3S, but the lift off is better on the 4D...but I don't notice this off center problem affecting my tracking, even though the sensor is lower than the center of the mouse.

I do feel like the Habu is the best high sense mouse around...but you may also want to try the new BlueTrack Sidewinder X8 from Microsoft when it comes out, since it will use a new tracking technology...I hate wireless mice and their lag, but maybe if you leave it connected with the wire, it won't have that problem. That combined with you can't program the five extra buttons the mouse has leave it as a very overpriced product in my opinion. (the 4 below the scroll wheel, and the 1 above the two side buttons.)

I got a reply telling me to update my firmware, and I did, and no difference at all, if anything, it's worse.

Is this a widespread problem or just a few unlucky units?

Thinking of a getting a DA (for vista 64bit & goliathus).

Widespread enough that everyone I know personally with the DA has the same issue. Not a big deal, if you're a low sensitivity player, it doesn't seem to be an issue at all.

Razer has stopped answering my emails, I guess they don't care about their community members.

After reading this I'm definitely going for Microsoft IntelliMouse 3.0. It makes a huge difference in gaming.

How odd.  I finally tested this with a few Razer mice.  I was feeling a little sceptical to begin with because a lot of those curves that I have seen people drawing *were* pretty shallow by the straight bit.  However, when I tried to draw a straight line with the DA it did seem to be easier.  Plus, any deviation from the straight line looked "notchy".  The Diamondback Plasma also behaved similarly.  The Copperhead and Lachesis did not seem to exhibit this behaviour.

Sorry I haven't attached a picture to support this, I know it's pretty worthless to others to make comments like this without supporting evidence.  Perhaps I'll have time later.

Cheers!

I contacted Razer support and asked if updated firmware would be available to fix this. Their answer boiled down to, "we don't know what you're talking about now go away."

cause it's a built-in "feature" of the sensor which you can't simply turn off the problem isn't fixable by firmware update

Sounds likely.  We need to dream up a repeatable test in order to measure how much each sensor is affected by this.  It might not even be intentional - it could just be the way the mouse tries to track movement that causes the problem.
