Hello I am looking to upgrade to a new mouse. My current mouse is IMO 1.1A. I was thinking about the Microsoft X5 Sidewinder, Razer Deathadder, or MX518. I use 400-800 dpi on my mice. If someone can recommend me a mouse. I currently have diamondback I dont like it, or lachesis.

Thank You.

I think the Habu is unable to track as quickly as some low sensers need it to, so it depends whether this will be a problem.  It sounds also like you prefer asymetrical mice.  Do you like to install the drivers?  If not, the MX518 is not for you because you must have the drivers running if you want to choose >400dpi.  (I think that the 518 was the last Logitech to have this daft design.)  I don't know about the MS mouse, so I'd suggest comparing the shape to the Deathadder and going with whichever you prefer.

Im currently playing cod5 and the Microsoft intellimouse 1.1 just does not track well. Im looking for a mouse that has the best tracking and accuracy, no skips nothing like that.

You don't say if you are left or right handed.  Wink
For me the Logitech G9 tracks well on any mousepad, it has 2 removable shells so it should suit any size of hand and the easy to use software has not needed updating since it first came out.
In other words they got it right first time!
I program all my weapons ingame to my mouse buttons and  it works great with this mouse. Smiley

Intellimouse Explorer 3.0
http://www.amazon.com/Mic...qid=1227025562&sr=8-1

Seriously, it's the only actually good low sense mouse out there.

I primarily use the Microsoft Habu, and it's awesome...
But I use 2000 dpi, and just turn the in game sense most of the way down.

If you're going to use 400dpi, then the IME 3.0 is the only mouse that's going to give you good tracking, without skipping or anything like that.

If you used a high sense, like 1800 or 2000 dpi, then the world is at your finger tips.
But none of these new mice perform well at 800 or 400 dpi.

So that's why, if you're dead set on one of those sensitivities, you pretty much have to chose the Intellimouse Explorer 3.0

You should also check up on what mouse pad you're using.
Though just about any mouse pad will be great for the Intellimouse Explorer 3.0

If you were using high sense, I'd definitely tell you to get a Habu though.

K ty for u input, I will check out the ie 3.0. I have tons of mouse pads, ranging from razer exactmat, func1030, SS 4D, Icemat, Puretrak Talent Cloth, and Xtrac Pad Hammer. I currently use the Xtrac Hammer. I wax my mouse pad twice a month just so my mouse glides smoothly. Also I am a Right Handed. Thank you guys for the help.

Go for IE3.0. Or if you really want a new mouse get a g9 or a Roccat Kone. Both are great mice for lowsens providing you have a right pad for them. Kone doesn't work with 400 dpi tho. I hear the DA's good too.

When you set the DA to 450 DPI, it no longer has good tracking because of the low DPI emulation.

I've only tried a G9 with the wide load grip, but it was pretty uncomfortable. (especially for my ring finger, and same with the MS Sidewinder...)
Moving the two extra buttons to be under the left click was also a horrible idea.
It's extremely hard to press them when you want to.
They should have left them under the scroll wheel, that was the perfect place for them.

Also the G9's side buttons are placed too close together, I was unable to hit mouse button 5 (forward) without usually accidentally hitting mouse button 4 (backward) at the same time.
There's no space between the side buttons at all, and they're also extremely small side buttons.
I think these two things combined is what makes that happen.
The only other side buttons I've ever had problems with were the Copperhead side buttons...those were extremely hard to press though, instead of accidental presses.

I did mention the Sidewinder in this post...
I really like it's metal scroll wheel, and the vertical side buttons.
They're pretty cool.
But like I said, it's pretty uncomfortable for my ring finger, and on top of that, you can't reprogram 5 of the 10 buttons on the mouse.
You can only reprogram the normal 5 buttons, and who the heck wants to do that?!

...those are the default functions of 4 and 5, I just said what they were so geniuses like you could tell what buttons I was talking about.

I bind different actions to the dpi buttons, since of course there's never really any need to change your dpi.
But the reason there is dpi buttons in the first place is so you can change your dpi in game, like "omg I'm in a tank, I need high dpi, oh no...now I'm sniping, I need low dpi."
But I'm not like that, I want one dpi and that's it.
Either way, I bind those two buttons to actually do things in game, or in the operating system...and they're in a terrible terrible place on the G9, and completely non programmable on the Sidewinder, and they don't even exist on the DeathAdder.

It also affects the overall comfort on the mouse IMHO, my index finger is resting on a rising detent on the G9, while my middle finger rests on smoothness.
Sad really. They could have just kept the buttons where they were on the G5 and Habu.
That was perfect.

So, what do you program your mouse buttons 4 and 5 to do in Windows, since you think their default setting is ridiculous??

I think he thought you used those buttons to move forwards and backwards from within a game when you actually meant for web browsing, windows apps, etc....
