Razer Sphex

I got mine yesterday, I don't think I like it. The bottom of the pad is not sticky enough so moving a mouse across it (or even touching it) produces a bunch of crinkly sounds - take a plastic bag, put it on the floor and walk on it, that's sorta what it sounds like.

The pad makes so much noise... it's driving me crazy. Had to remove it.

It has a lot of promise, but the noise is hugely irritating.

Edit: I should note that the mat was later replaced by Razer and my new one is working much better. It's a lot quieter than the old one.

Hey,

just wanted to check with you. Have you removed the protective plastic sheet underneath the Sphex? We never had this problem with the mouse mat whatsoever and if you say it was:
a) not sticky
b) makes noise

It sounds to me like the protective sheet is still underneath it. Let me know, if that's the case or if not, please drop me another email to christopher(dot)mitchell(at)razerzone(dot)com. Neither of the problems should show up and if they really still do, something went wrong with your unit and we'll take care of that.

Cheers

Hi Chris, email has been sent.

To summarize: I did remove the plastic, but it still doesn't seem very sticky.

I'm wondering if the mouse doesn't like my surface. My desk is steel and glass. The mousing area is steel, I also tried the pad on the glass, both areas had the crinkle problem.

Edit: Thanks to Chris' excellent customer service skills, I have a replacement mat that's working much better.

First of all: What do you prefer? Cloth oder plastic mousepads?
Cloth: Razer Goliathus Speed or the SteelSeries QcK should be a good choice.
Plastic: Razer Sphex is a good deal (I am actually testing it...)

What's the friction like, Laxer? Is it more or less "sticky" than a func surface 10?
