New Razer mouse announced

So the dimensions of this new mouse compared to the Salmosa are:
115mm (L) x 63mm (W) x 40mm (H) Abyssus
115mm (L) x 63mm (W) x 37mm (H) Salmosa

So they are nearly the same in terms of size. The Abyssus is slightly taller. I would expect it to be slightly heavier as well. It also has a the 3.5G sensor which does away with "drift control" which is great. If the buttons on this mouse don't squeak like the Samosa's I will buy it.

Not bad for €50, but when I'm gaming (or browsing the web) I really need the two side-buttons.

50 bucks approximately? Thats not bad for a mouse touting those specs. I wonder what wonderful and creative way razer has come up with to suck this time. Maybe this time the mouse will explode if the miles per hour drop below 70mph then you will have 48 hours to deliver 1000 dollars in nickles in a brown sac to this address

They should make a new DA with the groves of a 3.0, proper wheel, no prediction and theyre friggin golden, but it seems like razer refuses to get that IME 3.0 legendary rep going Smiley

Nice" no angle snapping" alternative to the Salmosa but I don't see any reason for the higher price compared to the Salmosa.

edit: why no braided cord?

I think it costs more than the Salmosa because it has more lights. The better sensor may also be a contributing factor.

Looks good, but I wonder how loud the buttons are going to be?  Deathadder's buttons were loud, and Diamondback 3G's buttons were ridiculously loud.  Manufacturers should look toward making quieter buttons.  It makes it easier to game at night and with other people living in adjoining rooms...  I am using a Krait right now for this very reason.

And Bullveyr, I'm kind of glad it doesn't come with a braided cord.  Braided cords are too stiff and annoying, IMO.  I prefer it to be light and flexible.  It provides less of a tug while I'm gaming.

@ZX679

10 bucks for a glowing logo and a different sensor (sensors are pretty cheap), imho the price still doesn't fit compared to Salmosa and DA 3500DPI.

@Ocelot

The braided cords of my Xai and Ikaris are much more flexibel than that of my DA.
It's a little bit odd to "improve" the DA with a braided cord and then still use the usual one on the next mouse.

The loudness of the buttons never bothered me, for me their feeling and presure point is much more important, but to be fair I don't game in a refugee camp with hundreds of people sleeping next to me. Cheesy

I just picked up a mx310 for 20 bucks, its sensor is as fast as the 3g. It cost 20 bucks. Nice small shape. 20 bucks. No acceleration. 20 bucks. connect at 1000hz. 20 bucks..... Figure it out.

I think the sad part is that there are people who don't know about this forum or they just don't do enough research. I SOLD my copperhead and SOMEONE ACTUALLY BOUGHT IT. Just THINK about that. Someone BOUGHT IT! OOOOOOOO  MMMMMMMMM GGGGGGGGGG

@Bullveyr
I agree. I was being a bit sarcastic in the reasons I gave. Ultimately I think Razer is charging more for this mouse because they can.

@camplo
Nice to see that there are still plenty of suckers out there. So how much did you pay for your mx310?

...just kidding

Why didn't they used braided cables? But imho braided cables are kinda stiff, i would prefer thinner rubber ones, say half the diameter of what razer's current razer mice have.
Anyway nice to see razer back on track with such a mice, most people would want the side buttons, but to others it may hinder movement thou, why not another version with side buttons?

Someone bought the same thing you did, hrmm way to spotlight yourself?

Also the Abyssus goes to 3500 dpi, the mx310 doesn't. Not to mention saying its 'as fast' as the other is the most vague generic statement you could make when giving comparing two mice. DPI, ips, consistency across multiple surfaces, tracking stability at higher speeds are all factors to consider. No one needs 1khz to play good so another moot point as well. 500 should be the most anyone would ever need.

I'd trade my Salmosa for one that doesn't have prediction.  Its easily my favorite mouse despite that shortcoming due to its size and shape.

One thing I don't like is that it seems to be limited to 450, 1800, and 3500 dpi...whereas I use the 800dpi setting on my Salmosa...

Its a shame it doesn't have 4 or 5 dpi states to choose from instead of just those three (ie 450, 900, 1800, 2700?, 3500)

I don't get this, they could have easily put the dpi switch on top of the mouse, what's the point on putting it underneath?

The switch is on the bottom to get it out of the way and reduce clutter...

This is a very small, 3 button mouse targeted towards users who want the bare minimum.  Users that will find their ideal settings, set them, and then leave it.

That being said, I think Razer is being very restrictive with too few dpi choices on too wide a range.  @ $50 it should have more choices or option for driver programmable firmware like the DA.
